What Causes Obesity?

There are numerous causes of obesity. These include genetics or your family history; your environment; your behavior; and even the kind of pregnancy your mother had with you. Poor sleep or too little sleep, certain medical conditions, and some medications can also contribute to obesity.

Your income, where you live, your access to healthy food, and a safe place to exercise also play a role in determining your risk of obesity.

Obesity is not, however, a moral failure because you eat too much. It is a disease that must be managed differently in each person.
